I captained Sam in his very first season in senior cricket. He was 13 or 14 at the time and it was obvious he wouldn’t be spending too much time in the fourth X1. He was a delight to have as part of the team both on and off the field. It was no surprise to me that he moved onto higher levels very quickly. More importantly Sam was always a credit to himself and his family in whatever he did. He will be a massive miss in my Presidents Day on 4th August where he had agreed to participate.
