Richard 8th August 2019

I feel fortunate to have spent time in Sam’s company, mostly at the OCG or at Lord’s stretching back over 10 years. But my strongest memory is the most recent, just 2 months ago at the OCG. So many of Sam’s great qualities were evident as he threw himself in to a game of tennis ball cricket with myself, Arnold and others. His enjoyment of life and sense of humour were to the fore. His trademark cricket skills were dusted off, as was his competitive spirit. He even managed to use the pace generated by a 4-year old’s bowling to nurdle the ball behind square! It is so sad to know that was the last time I will see him, yet I know his life had a positive impact on myself, his many other cricketing friends, his friends beyond cricket, and of course his family. I look forward to celebrating his life on Friday. Love Richard, Nancy and Arnold
