Sam, it was a pleasure to play in the same cricket team as you. My favourite memory of you will be when Ty Mills turned up to play against Brentwood. Mills was unknown then, but has since played for England. He bowled seriously quick. I walked out to join you in the middle and asked what Mills was doing with the ball. You responded that you didn’t know, because you couldn’t see it! We agreed to just try and get a bat on it and take singles. At the end of the over we had added 6 runs to the total, but we had not managed to hit the ball, it just kept hitting us and we ran leg byes.
